classroom description
Located in the a large dungeon under the Hogwarts castle, there is a singular large u-shape stone staircase that leads all students below. Entering the classroom, there are large pitched windows bringing in an unknown bright light into the dim room that shines between worktables. Each worktable is rectangular and made of a slab of dark stone, large enough to fit one student on each side with their cauldron and materials. There is a small alcove for a bookshelf holding various potion textbooks and guides. Beside it, there is a secondary room that holds various ingredients for potions. This room is locked and can only be accessed by the professor and trusted students.
There is a soft hum to the room if you listen intently. Every so often, there's a sound of a rushing train "outside" or a car honking in traffic. An illusion of somewhere else underneath the sounds of boiling liquids and candles burning. The room always runs cold, there's nothing to do about it other than putting on a sweater. There is the sweet smell of coffee that lingers from the professor's desk.
An extremely casual class due to its proficiency level. It is mostly self-directed with potion assignments already on the chalk board.
There is a small sense of intensity due to the sheer volume of potions requested to be created. (number changes based on the level of potion)
Controlled chaos, books always fly back into the bookcase once the student has left the room for the day.
The meticulous system of cleanliness and organization displayed in potions v and potions vi is not here.
" your stations is in an embarrassing state, but it's yours. you choose it to be your everlasting impression to your professor. it's a choice to be remembered this way, and it's yours. "

roleplayers guide
Professor Atwood seems to focus on his own pursuits for the first half of the class. such as reading, grading, and sometimes testing his own potions. He expects Year Sevens to understand how to manage their time in prepping for their success. You will see him be much more casual and chatty due to this. Is it a test of your discipline? Maybe, but he just likes a good chat some times. the second half is direct instruction between professor and student. he will give aid to every student at least one (usually twice) by the end of class. practice makes perfect.
participation is your character's attempt to completed the potions prompted in the lesson or interaction with another character (student or professor).
if you'd like professor interaction, please tag Sugarnaut.
otherwise, the thread is open to freeplay. the professor may intervene if there is too much mischief.
