Potions V is a Tuesday/Thursday course starting at 10pm, that ends at 10:45pm.
It is a 45 minute class period focused on potion preparation and brewing.
A main focus of the class is to prepare students for their O.W.L. examinations.

                        Assignments & Labs: 40% tab Lectures & Notetaking: 15% tab Tests & Quizzes: 25% tab Reading & Memorizing: 20%

                        classroom description

Located in the a large dungeon under the Hogwarts castle, there is a singular large u-shape stone staircase that leads all students below. Entering the classroom, there are large pitched windows bringing in an unknown bright light into the dim room that shines between worktables. Each worktable is rectangular and made of a slab of dark stone, large enough to fit one student on each side with their cauldron and materials. There is a small alcove for a bookshelf holding various potion textbooks and guides. Beside it, there is a secondary room that holds various ingredients for potions. This room is locked and can only be accessed by the professor and trusted students.

There is a soft hum to the room if you listen intently. Every so often, there's a sound of a rushing train "outside" or a car honking in traffic. An illusion of somewhere else underneath the sounds of boiling liquids and candles burning. The room always runs cold, there's nothing to do about it other than putting on a sweater. There is the sweet smell of coffee that lingers from the professor's desk.

It's awkwardly sterile in here. Medically clean, and books always fly back into the bookcase once the student has left the room for the day.
A sense that things are done a particular way for a reason.

                        classroom rules to follow

during lecture, it's important to take notes and ask questions when curiosity arises.
answering questions prompted to the class will gain points.
lab time (potion making) is strictly quiet.
absolute failure in creating the potion during lab will have penalties.

                        roleplayers guide

professor atwood is extremely strict in this class- how his day goes sways how nitpicky he becomes in his teachings.
he will watch a student's method of preparation and potion making, give direct notes and show proper techniques.

participation is your character's attempt to make the potion prompted in the lesson or interaction with another character (student or professor).
if you'd like professor interaction, please tag Sugarnaut.
otherwise, the thread is open to freeplay. the professor may intervene if there is too much mischief.

Professor Atwood inspects all personal cauldrons in the first days of class to determine if they are up to (his) standard. He then lends out cauldrons he's purchased himself to students if needed. The purpose is to show them the importance of taking care of their items, and the care thus reflects the ease and results of their potions. TLDR: Take care of your things, and you'll struggle less.

quizzes are unprompted, but often. (very american of him, really!)

homework tends to be writing assignments on evaluations of the labs, potion results, potion materials.
essays are a rarity and is moreso a class punishment.
extra credit is not given. (he hates it, don't make him make more assignments!)
