Do you like to strut your STYLE?
Do you eat, breathe, and live for BEAUTY?
Do you have what it takes to be a true FASHIONISTA?
──────────────────────────────────────
16 New Designers • 13 Challenges • 8 Crew • Only 1 Winner

► IT'S TIME TO FIND OUT WHO WILL EMERGE ◄
— AS KING OR QUEEN OF THE CATWALK —

How the Competition Works
────────────────────

• The Head Judge issues bi-weekly challenges to that cycles' Designers, who must then outfit their Model to theme to be judged
• The Judges grade and discuss each Designer's entry, and collectively construct a feedback summary with Designer precedence
• The winner of a challenge receives their due flowers, along with the option to either keep their Model, or take the loser's Model
• The bottom Designer of each challenge is eliminated from the competition henceforth, and cannot participate in future challenges
• The process of elimination continues through every new challenge that's issued, until there are only three Designers left standing
• The final evaluation sees the top three Designers creating their own, personal fashion line, that they must advocate to the Judges
• The final standing is based on how well the Designers pitch their fashion line, as well as their track record throughout the cycle

Policies

► First, always try and adhere to Gaia's TOS, duh!
► Do not use more than one account to audition for a cycle
► Only current cycle Designers may post in the Current Cycle sub
► No leaking Judges' Panel results/discussions to non-crew members
► Using another Gaian's designs for a challenge is considered plagiarism
► Avoid using the current cycle's theme colours in your posts (Crew exempt)
► Anyone hosting a mini contest must follow through with distributing promised prizes
► Eliminated Designers can still post in the Current Cycle sub, just not in the main thread
► While discussion over challenge results is encouraged, excessive arguing/bashing isn't tolerated

Any violation of the standards listed above may result in:
                                      • Jeopardizing your position in the current cycle

Guild FAQ

Q: Is Project Catwalk a ripoff of Gaia Runway?
A: Actually, we're the OG design competition, having been around since 2005 — effectively pre-dating Gaia Runway by 10 years!
The earliest record we can find of Project Catwalk is from July 2010, when we moved guilds.

Q: Where can I donate to the guild? What can I donate towards?
A: You can contribute to the main competition, official PC Mini-Contests, or general guild costs via the guild mule: Mother Catwalk.
If you have a preference where your donation goes, make sure to send a PM with your trade.

Q: How do I become a Crew Member?
A: Crew roles are automatically offered at the end of each cycle to the Designers who finished in the top three.

Q: Can PC Crew enter the main competition?
A: Not unless they forfeit their crew role before the auditions begin.

Q: Why do you boot your guild members, and can I re-join if I'm removed?
A: In order to keep things clean and up-to-date, we sometimes do a sweep of inactive members. It's nothing personal.
Our goal is to prune those who may have left Gaia, or have no interest in PC anymore. If removed in error, please re-join us.

Q: Why are certain text colours off-limits to guild members?
A: The eight crew members of each cycle, claim one of the eight cycle colours, in order to be identified at a glance.

Q: Who do I notify if I have questions about a mini contest or a prize that's won?
A: Always reach out to the contest host first. If for some reason you have trouble contacting a contest's host, notify a PC Ambassador.

General FAQ

Q: How do we dress the Models?
A: Models are dressed in Gaia's Avatar Builder. Note: You do not need to own or purchase any of the items you equip onto your Model.

Q: Can I use my own Model(s)?
A: That is something that may change from contest to contest, depending on its rules, but is not allowed in the main competition.

Q: Where can I view the the current cycle's Models?
A: PC cycle Models are always showcased in the Model Pool/Line-Up, on the first page of the main competition thread.

Q: What are the items listed alongside the Model's name?
A: Those are her base traits, which cannot be changed or removed from your Model, unless specifically instructed to do so in the challenge.
Failure to equip them onto your Model for challenge entries will result in lost points from the Judges' Panel ... if you're caught, that is.

Q: What items can I use in my challenge submissions?
A: You may use any equippable item as long as it does not change your base Model traits. Be sure to check the Body Mod Guideline.

Q: Real people change their appearance all the time, so why the strict rules about Model base traits?
A: The competition is meant to challenge a Designer to accommodate their Model.
It requires them to get creative and experiment with different styles and schemes that best suit their muse.
Yes, there may be a cosmetic product, a procedure, or a regiment in the real world to alter one's appearance, but in Gaia, that's a slippery slope;
Avatar countenance doesn't come with the limits we have in real life, therefore restraint is necessary to ensure we keep things challenging.

Q: How do Testimonials work?
A: Found in the Archives sub, testimonials are real accounts from PC guild members, detailing their cycle experience.
Any member of the guild is welcome to submit their own testimonial at the end of a cycle, by PM'ing their written accounts to a cycle Judge.

Auditions FAQ

Q: Where is the Auditions thread, and why can't I post in it?
A: Auditions are only open for a short period of time, at the beginning of each new cycle.
Once the deadline has passed, the thread is locked, and sent into the Archives.

Q: Why are we able to audition for the main competition with multiple Models?
A: Because you can only compete with a Model you've auditioned with, and since some Models are more highly sought after than others,
we allow additional Model submissions in order to increase the chances of our best auditioning Designers to make it into the competition.

Q: Do I have to post the equipped list during Auditions?
A: Yes. It's a requirement made in lieu of writing an outfit description ... Plus, it allows the Judges to weed out those who can't follow instructions.

Q: Once I post my Audition entry, is it possible to change the Model(s) I initially chose?
A: So long as the deadline hasn't yet expired, you're more than welcome to change whatever you want in your attempts to beat out the other candidates.

Competition FAQ

Q: How will I know when there's a new challenge?
A: New challenges are posted every other Sunday, and can be viewed on the first page of the main competition thread.

Q: Why is my name stricken or bolded under the cycle's Designer list?
A: The Designer list is edited every Judges' Panel to reflect the challenge outcome.
The most recent winner is indicated by a 'Bold' name, whilst eliminated Designers are marked with a 'Strike'.

Q: What needs to be included in our challenge submissions?
A: A photo of the outfit, the Designer's name, the Model's name, an outfit title, a description and the submission status.
Check out the examples for reference.

Q: What's a 'Submission Status' and how do I know which one to use?
A: A submission status is used to convey where a Designer is with their entry. There are three options, and each marks a different stage in the design process:
[1] A 'Reserved' status states the Designer's intention to make an entry;
[2] A 'Work in Progress' status is for entries that have been posted, but are subject to change;
[3] The 'Complete' status, indicates to the Judges that no further changes are being made to that entry, and that it is ready for critiquing.

Q: How are entries judged?
A: There are four Judging Criteria, with each category equally contributing 1/4 to a Designer's score.
Marks are cut if Model traits are altered, or essential info is omitted.

Q: Is the decision for challenge winner/loser based solely on their Panel scores for that week?
A: Mostly, but not always. If overall scores reveal a clear top or bottom, that'll be the deciding factor. But if any of the top/bottom scores are within a few points of one another,
the Judges will consider a Designer's track record, their progression and even how devoted they seemingly are to PC to assist in their decision!

Q: How are Mentors used within the competition?
A: Mentors are experts in Style, Motif, Creativity, and/or Description. They're a service offered to cycle Designers to assist with challenge entries.

Q: What if I don't complete the challenge in time?
A: If you know you'll be absent for any length of time, let a Judge know in advance, so they can accommodate you, and protect your situation from unjust elimination.
Otherwise, if your entry isn't in by 11:59pm on the due date, you'll likely be eliminated. 'Gaia was having issues' is not a viable excuse when you're given a week to submit your work.

The Owners of Project Catwalk

I'm just your typical bleeding-heart, leftist Millennial, with a s**t ton of
mental and emotional issues, and adds 'lol' to the end of most sentences.
I'm not special, or different in any real meaningful way, but I did create this
contest from the ground up, and I'm very proud to call it my legacy on Gaia.

Over the years, I've taken a bit of a backseat in the guild, to make room for
more reliable people to run things while I'm on hiatus. When I AM online, I'm
most likely to be found doing guild upkeep, or training my fellow owners on
how my crazy brain works. Rarely, you might catch me as a guest judge on
a PC cycle, or hosting a mini contest, where my eye for design is on display.

I definitely have strong tastes in what I like and dislike, and I'm not afraid to
be blunt or sarcastic about it. I love tertiary colours, levels of depth, weird
items, decor, whimsical themes, and simplicity in avatars. I don't like
primary colours, clutter, full backgrounds, cosplays, sets, or base poses.
I'm also very judgey with description length and content, for some reason ...

If you see me around the guild, forums, or discord server, don't hesitate to say hi!

Hello, lovelies! Much like our Project Catwalk creator and queen, I'm a
fairly standard millennial. Entirely liberal, living and laughing through that
Lexapro life, and working at a library! If you ever want to talk books, I'm
your girl. And if you ever want to hear some wild stories, I'm your girl too.

I've been on Gaia since the dark ages, and was starting to lose the passion
when this guild came along into my life. I had always loved making avatars,
and what was supposed to be a one off judging thing became so much more.
I may be taking a hiatus but I love this contest and guild space, and seeing
the amazing ways that everyone can be so creative. Especially in this world
of icky AI, human ingenuity and art is more important than ever, and this guild
brings it to life time after time.

As for judging, I do have my strong opinions. I love colors. I love being able to
see the damn entry, so tend to have problem with filters if they obscure things
or if the looks blend together too much. I love alternative things and nerdy ones
too, and thinking outside the box. Keep the descriptions simple. And get personal
with things. I want to know who you are as people, and why you do this.

I promise not to bite, and my messages are always open. Usually on Discord these
days, but never hesitate to reach out! heart

Hi, I'm Detrimentum, but you can call me Detri!

I am a Gen Z woman living in Poland. Honestly, I am not that
interesting. I've participated in two PC cycles, almost making
finals in one and winning the other. Since then, I've served as
a judge a few times and supported during the new
cycle-making process. Based on that, you could say I
have a bit of guild experience.

When it comes to my tastes, I gravitate toward two completely
different aesthetics: cute and pink, or dark and horror. I adore
fantasy and nature elements, and what matters most to me
are unique concepts. I find bright, clashing colours off-putting,
and I'm not a fan of Gaia's base pose/arms. I also hate when
there's no description for the design.

I might be an introvert, but I'm always willing to help others and
chat. Feel free to shoot me a PM here or on Discord! I have a
really bad sleep schedule, so you'll likely find me online during
pretty weird hours, haha!

Hello, Pica here ❀
I'm a fellow member of the Millenial Old Guard and long-time Gaia resident,
hailing from beautiful New England. I stumbled into Project Catwalk on an
invite when I was in desperate need of a new hobby, and I never would have
guessed that a last-minute audition for Cycle 6 would lead me to taking first
place... and then, somehow, that snowballed into a permanent leadership role!
Needless to say, it's an honor to be here, and I look forward to all that is to come.

IRL, I come from a background of fashion and fine jewelry. While some people
may see these things as trivial, I believe that the ways in which we adorn
ourselves are key to self-expression, forging an identity, and ultimately connecting
with the world and people around us. I also moonlight in indie game development,
and in my downtime I enjoy various hobbies like birdwatching, cosplay, and
other forms of arts and crafts.

My own sense of style leans very soft, whimsical, and romantic—I live for
flowers and flowy silhouettes! I also dabble in alt-fashion styles like classic
lolita, mori girl, and cottagecore. That said, when you find me in the Judge's
seat, just know that I can appreciate any style or aesthetic so long as the
construction and details tell a story. Really, you can sell me on any just about
anything if you make it seem intentional somehow!

I'm active here and in our community Discord, so feel free to message me if
you ever have any questions (or want to see pictures of my cat)!
