ok i know i have one, and some of you guys have also told me about yours. i'm talking about bellies here: my jelly belly, spare tires, rolls of flab, love handles baring abdomen. and i've been looking up information on how to shed it.
so first of all if your waist measure more than 35 inches you NEED to shed some belly fat for your own good. Studies have shown that where you store your fat is probably as important as how much you have. People who tend to store their excess fat around the tummy (the so-called apple shaped body) are at greater risk for coronary heart disease and diabetes than people who tend to store their fat below the waist line (the so-called pear shaped body). If you tend toward the apple shape, reducing your weight will not only improve your appearance, it may help you live longer too.
now HOW TO SHED BELLY FAT.
it doesn't matter how many crunches or situps you do, because your defined abs are not going to show up underneath a layer of fat. The only way to deflate that spare tire is to restrict your caloric and fat intake by following a sensible eating plan and by doing regular aerobic exercise sessions. For best weight loss results, aim for 3-5 aerobic workouts weekly that last anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
Belly fat is stored energy. To get rid of the layer of fat that's currently hiding your abs, you need to burn more energy (calories) than you eat on a regular basis. And hundreds of sit-ups or crunches simply don't burn enough calories to make much of a difference to the appearance of your waist and stomach. the battle to lose fat is 50% eating healthy and 50% exercise.
It is impossible to lose fat in a particular spot. You have to have body wide fat reduction if you ever want to get rid of that extra belly fat. Don’t focus on specific exercises to tighten stomach muscles, but on an overall cardio workout that will burn fat. Exercises to get rid of belly fat can be anything that will get your heart rate going and your blood pumping. The best exercises to get rid of belly fat burn fat everywhere on your body, to give you an overall healthy and slim appearance. After all, if you’re got belly fat then there are other places that might need to be trimmed up as well!
aswell as cardio it is also good to do core training so crunches etc are ok to do, but they will not eliminate flab on your belly. somebody on gaia also told me that push-ups are good for ab muscles because if you do them properly you get a burning sensation around your lower abs and groin that helps firm them up. do core training for all over your body, not just for your abs.
the reason why some people have flat midsection is because they have a strong transverse abdominus -TVA. over the years a combination of your losing strenth in your TVA and a gain of fat around your midsection leads to a pot belly. you should train your TVA everyday by doing this: place one of your fingers on your belly button, without taking a deep breath try to move your belly button inward as far away from your finger as you can, hold your belly button for 5 seconds working up to a minute, and when you are more advanced, tightly squeeze your abs as you hold your bellybutton in. don't rely solely on this to get rid of you jelly belly, it is just a good exercise to do.
i hope this helped, and you should all reply to this post with any extra info on how to get rid of a belly if you know any.
