Room 5: The Giftshop - A large room that looks as much like an exhibit of miscellaneous treasures as it does a well-organized giftshop. There are no prices, and while there doesn't seem to be any true organization system, the room doesn't appear the least bit cluttered. Shelves climb toward the ceiling, each crowded with objects ranging from beautiful to baffling. There is no shortage of curiosities--trinkets, jewelry, instruments, tools, books, stones, toys--just about anything can be found here in some form. Nothing here was meant to stay for long, and visitors who came early in the evening might find a very different stock by the end of the evening. At the front of the room, and within perfect sight of both the door and every aisle, Almadel stands watch behind a gorgeous desk. The room is well lit and has a large window along the back wall, allowing an extensive view of deep space. Unlike the other exhibits, there doesn't seem to be a ban on snacks, as Almadel has a bowl of strange candy, and a tray of individually wrapped pastries that look oddly similar to Cosmic Brownies.

Carmeltzite had forced herself to save the gift shop for last. She absolutely ******** adored gift shops! The kitschier the better! As she paused and looked around with lively interest, the lieutenant saw that this shop was set up a little differently. More organized. Almost an exhibit itself. Fascinating. As she peeked and poked through the shelves, she wondered what all these things were and what they might mean.

Now, the good and responsible thing to do would be to loot the place and take whatever she could grab down to lay at her superiors' feet in an offering. But why risk annoying the hot alien that ran this place? Besides, she'd never stolen before and she wasn't about to do it now! Besides, if she did something that ******** stupid, she'd deserve being shot out into space to die horribly. Nah, she'd behave. BUT, she would have one of those brownies!

Seizing up one of the wrapped goodies, she carefully opened it and nibbled at the brownie. She doubted that these would be 'special', but you never knew! Maybe Almadel was a hip dude. Laughing a little at the thought, she resumed checking out the goods.

Almadel watched as she helped herself to one of the brownies. His lips were curled into a perpetual half-smile, and his tail danced behind him in a pleased, leisurely fashion.

He carried a box in his arms, approaching from a storage room behind the desk, and he set it down before she got too far from the desk and said, "Finding anything that catches your eye?" There were plenty of things that fit that description around here, so it seemed like a convenient conversation hook.

The brownies were sweet--light, and fluffy, and though the effect was subtle, it made every little light look a bit more like a star, as if wearing an invisible lens that cast a holographic glow.

Carefully tucking the brownie wrapper into her pocket to avoid littering, Carmeltazite found herself grinning back at the Merchant. Yep. Still hot. And tall. Mmmm. Giving herself a little shake, she stuck out a hand and said, “Pleased t’meetcha! And yeah, there’re quite a few things in here catching my eye.” Yes, many things. Like the interesting little doodads on the shelf. The tall drink o’water of an alien who was entirely too attractive for her own good… But no! Nope! She needed to behave herself. It was rude to consider jumping Almadel’s bones. Especially when he was showing absolutely no interest in her except, maybe, as a customer.

Damn it.

“So where do you find all this stuff?” she asked in order to fill the silence. “What even is half of this stuff?” Yes, focus on the stuff in the shop. That was a lot safer subject wise. And she might learn something good that she could take back and report. “For that matter, how the hell did you manage to get a lot of Generals to behave themselves up here? I always thought those guys were attack on sight when it came to senshi. Though that bunch is behaving too. I don’t get it.” This was all said rapidly as she popped around, still looking at things. And was it just her or was the world taking on a neat holographic glow?

“I mean, me? I behave ‘cause that’s what the higher ups insist on. Plus, it’s pretty clear you’re strong, so why would I wanna ******** with that, but I think even the Queen respects you and from what I’ve heard that’s like super rare so I’m just tryin’ to figure this out. And,” a little clatter upon the floor distracted her and she saw a crimson star charm skitter across the floor from where she’d kicked it. “Oh, I don’t think this is from here. I’ll hold onto it. How much you wanna bet someone rolled through here and dropped it. Wild. So anyway,” Carmeltazite chattered on, asking questions about various items and somehow managing to stay just barely within manners. Finally, she seemed to run out of steam and as she grew quiet, she managed a final question.

“So you take USD here?”
