Hello! I've also just joined this guild. I'm not from the Netherlands, but I have a couple of close connections there. I'm originally from the Southeastern region of the US. I'm currently living in Japan bc of my husband's work, but it's only for a couple of years.
My brother in law is from The Netherlands. He moved to the US to be with his now wife. I'm not sure what town he's from, but I think it's in the far North. Maybe Den Helder?
My grandfather's side was Dutch and they originated from Amsterdam. (My great great grandfather had a fight with his father and, on his second attempt to run away from home, he successfully stowed away in a whaling ship and learned to become a deckhand and eventually a harpooner.)
Someday, I'd love to visit Amsterdam to see where part of my heritage originated from. Do you have any other suggestions for places to visit in your homeland?
