If you've seen James Cameron's Avatar than you'll know whom The Na'vi are. They're indengious extraterrestrial humanoid inhabitants in the world of Pandora. Well, I've decided to try to start up a Na'vi herd with the help of Jet[and Wikipedia]. :3

Feel free to take a gander around.
Note: This is basically a rough draft. I'll put up a 'final copy' when there's enough members and such.
Still in progress...

Cert Background

Needed: More ideas.
Symbols used to recognize different ranks.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:32 pm

Clothing
------
The Na’vi wears little apparel usually at most by the mares and/or for special occasions and ceremonies. Accessories that are woven and made from the nature can be worn to show the rank of the member within the herd. More accessories can be added or removed as the member moves up within ranks. Such simple clothing and/or accessories may be necklaces, foreleg bands, and headdresses.

Society and Culture
-------
The Na’vi are a close family herd that lives in harmony with nature and their surroundings. Each family member shares a strong and spiritual bond with one another and their god deity, Eywa.
Eywa, a guiding force and deity to the Na’vi is said to be the balancer to the ecosystem of their homelands. It is through their Home-tree and Tree of Souls that the Na’vi can make a connection to Eywa.
Home-Tree is a large oak within the forest that has stood for many years. It’s within its hollowed out trunk and tough branches that the Na’vi make their home.

Mating
-------
The Na’vi are monogamous, meaning that they mate for life. Going against your mate is strictly forbidden and can result in abandonment or shunned upon by Eywa.
Once the Na’vi male has proven himself and accepted into the clan as an adult, only then can be have the right to choose a mate.
After the male has chosen his female, the two will mate before Eywa.
Eywa, in a way, is the one whom makes the decision if the couples in question are the right ones to mate. If the couple cannot be foreseen to have a potential and happy future, Eywa may decline them or ‘ruin their lives together’.

Familiars
------
The Tsaheylu is the Na’vi word of bond when a Nequus shares a special emotional and spiritual bond with a familiar. Familiars are not frowned upon and in most cases a familiar is needed to obtain a special rank. For instances a warrior would need to have Caris or a Rit.

Joining Requirements
-------
Any of the Nequus species can join into the Na’vi herd and they can be of any color. However to actually be pronounced as ‘one of the Na’vi’ the mare and/or stallion in question must complete a role-play with either the herd leader or with the spiritual leader. Once the role-play is completed and the Nequus has been officially accepted into the herd they can advance to a higher rank and breed among the Na’vi.

If a role-play is not completed with the herd leader or spiritual leader the Nequus in question will be at the lowest rank of the herd and may be frowned/shunned upon by other members.

Ranks

Olo’ eyktan- Herd Leader [limited. One mare or stallion, preferably stallion.]
- Most important member of the herd. The leader is in charge of the herd, and rules along with his/her mate. He or she might pass along leadership and knowledge to its apprentice.

Tsahik- Spiritual Leader [limited. One mare or stallion, preferably mare. Mate to the herd leader.]
- Most important female member. It is up to her to interpret the will of Eywa. In most cases the Tsahik is a female and is mated with the herd leader. She will at most pass down her knowledge to one of her female offspring.

Gatherers- Part of the community [unlimited. Mare or stallion. Adult.]
- Gatherers are the ones whom make sure there is enough food to go around to everyone within the herd. They are responsible for bringing fruits, nuts, vegetables, and etc back to the herd. Keeping to food in stock through the cold seasons. They also know where everything grows within the Na’vi territory.

Warrior- part of the community [unlimited. Mare or stallion. Adult.]
- The warriors are those who defend the Na’vi against other herds if a battle is to happen. They are strong and protective individuals and will check the borders very closely.

Waytelem- word meaning ‘song chord’ in Na’vi. [unlimited. Mare or stallion. Adult or foal.]
- The Waytelem are the angelic vocals of the herd. They sing songs and pull together festivies if and when the herd is in need of some cheering up. They’ll recite songs that they’ve heard in dreams and sing them proudly. And in some of these dreams that omens can be distingushed by the songs. They are also story tellers and will pass down stories with each generation.

Apprentices- [unlimited. Filly or colt. Mare or stallion.]
- Apprentices are usually fillies or colts that wish to learn from someone whom has enough experience from one of the ranks. They’ll tag behind a teacher in hopes of learning of that role. However a mare or stallion can also be a apprentice. Usually that will happen when someone has just been pronounced as ‘one of the Na’vi’. Apprentices are also named for herd members who don’t really have a specific role. They’re there for the herd and will lend a hoof when needed.

Faketuan- [unlmited. Filly or colt. Mare or stallion.]
- This is the lowest rank for anyone to obtain. A Faketaun[ alien; non-Na’vi] is someone who hasn’t been officially accepted into the herd.

Hey I was thinking for the symbol we could use a tree or something, since the trees were so important to them in the movies..I tried making an Ikran into a vector symbol but you can't really tell what it was once it's shrunk lol

I found this. I hate how it's blinking though. But I do like the symbol.

I could probably make it work if you wanted to use it, what colors did you want the herd to use on their cert?

Something that matches the cert background. That would be nice. Thanks, Jet. :3

Name: Kamenwati
Cert: X
Personality: He is currently a blank slate, but will update this when I have him figured out. But he is an ex-Katelinuck so he is an excellent fighter, especially in aerial combat and would protect his new herd without question.
