Why do religions that support love support so many wars?

Is it the religion or the people who claim they follow it and miss the mark?

Exactly... the religions themselves usually explicitly say something akin to "thou shalt not kill" or "harm none" or "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...
The trouble is when religions get organized and religious leaders become zealots. They then claim to be the "voice of (insert deity here)" and say "I... I mean (deity) wants more power, so go (do this horrible thing) to get it!" and the faithful follow blindly.

churches make deals with political powers, and sacrifice indepence and the high moral ground in doing so.
my fellow believers say that for Christians this happened first and worst under Constantine.
we, on the other hand, are pacifist and relatively powerless.

I think the point is adding politics to religion (or adding politics to any other organization!). When those in power are more concerned with gaining power then the religion becomes and excuse and a justification.

I've been reading tons lately about angels etc.
Organized religions often forget about connecting with good and God and all.
Recognizing that God is in each of us actually eliminates the importance of what religion a person follows and all.
Its a shame that any religion would put "itself" ahead in importance over the people that actually are members in their religion.

Quakers are against war, but, that's the only religion I know that is.
Even if there was no religion, we'd probably have wars though.
