I have read seed; one of my old roommates left a copy laying around. I remember finding it pretty interesting. Maybe I'll pick up an issue or two again. I think I get most of my science news from either word of mouth and links from friends, journals, and then random things like bbc news or scientific american. BBC news scares me though, sometimes they'll report on a recent biology paper and just completely get what it is saying and its conclusion wrong, stuff like confusing a super common technique used for the actual result. It makes me wonder what kind of people they hire for this stuff. X_x
Thanks for your comment in my profile. ^_^ As for neurogenesis, it's definitely a very real phenomenon, even if it doesn't happen on the level we'd all like for it to occur in the human brain. XD You should definitely check out some of the songbird research, especially papers from Fernando Nottebohm's lab. His work has really pioneered neurogenesis research, and he's quite famous now. Carlos Lois has also done great work on it, he was a post doc, I believe at Nottebohm's lab, and now has his own lab at MIT where he continues some of the same studies, but also has a focus on theraputic approaches, trying to figure out how to cause and control neurogenesis in the human brain, for treatment of various disorders and illnesses. It's very neat stuff.
It is taking poetic license in a way to make you think so how you see it is to dicect it....but it made you think. That was the object and to inject into your mind some good thoughts. Nothing else. The praying thing, I pray when I have to which is supposed to not be enough and when I do I never close my eyes because I don't think I have to. I don't beleive the way most people do anyway. Nothing else. But I see we are about the same age... glad to meet you.
