---Personality: Despite being of the predator kind, becoming hostile around the full moon, Waya is a kind person at heart. He dislikes confrontation and prefers to busy himself with the concerns of the wild, reveling in the freedom of nature. It does not make him happy that his condition as a werecreature causes him to be violent at times, and so Waya prefers to suppress that side of himself by being independent and unattached to others. He feels the only intimacy he can be allowed is with the wolves where he can do no harm.
.....However he is not unsympathetic with people. Waya is very loving and protective of the people he holds dear, and once his friendship is attained, he will be the most loyal of allies, even to a fault. He also has a proclivity for judging a person's will and capacity for good and evil. But as a result of Waya's self-contempt and belief in the redemption of all people, he will overlook another's tresspasses and welcome their friendship with effort from the other half, despite his oft insistence at remaining alone. Thes conflicting feelings and emotions make him easy to manipulate.
.....The only exceptions to these rules tend to be older men. With an alpha male attitude, Waya is especially wary about them and will easily form grudges. If any interfere with the welfare of his friends, the wolf immediately becomes guarded and suspicious in respect to whom he deems the "wrongdoer." It can take a long time or an extraordinarily good deed to regain his trust. On the other hand, he gets along with women and younger boys fairly easily.
.....The wolf is not outspoken or outgoing. While preferring to remain in the good graces of all, Waya will not go to any great lengths to make and keep friends, save it be the very few whom he has taken into his confidence or those whom have shown great interest in him. Any favors paid to him, he will surely return. Waya will not be indebted to anyone if he can help it as he wishes to maintain the aforementioned unattachment to others. The dueling drive for independence and close friendship may be his greatest weakness.

The History
---Biography:Waya was first found in a little bundle on Cubi's doorstep. She took him in as an infant and nursed him into childhood, until she felt he needed a new home. Since then, Waya has been in the care of Orphne, a nymph with his same love for nature. Currently the boy is preparing to move in with Orphne into Airez' home.

When Waya first arrived at my home, he had a rucksack filled with several objects and a few possessions already on his person, which he later explained to me. Here's the bunch of them, and how he described them (though hesitantly, as he takes his time with words):

A special pendant and plush toy given to Waya with a note from Xaria and Cheshire. <3 He wears the necklace all day (even to bed) and sometimes in the shower!

User Image A pretty fan with wolf ears (he pointed this out insistantly) from Kamtrouble.

User Image A cute bumblebee toy that he likes to pretend with. From Lucifer Force.

User Image User Image A pair of toys from Kimiko. Waya chews on the sheep when he's bored. X3

User Image A thick black teddy that with a tag on it labeled "To: Waya, From: Buffynick and Bowen." Whenever Waya holds the bear he rocks back and forth pretending to fly, whispering "Galador" under his breath.

User Image This is one of his most precious possessions. It was from his previous guardian, Cubi, a good friend of mine, and he is always excited to see her again. <3


And here are the things Waya has acquired since I've adopted him:

User Image User Image User Image These cute little plushies were all that I had when Waya first arrived at my home. I didn't want him to feel unwelcome, so I let him have them. Originally, they were a trivial bunch of things I purchased to decorate a bare shelf, but never got around to setting them out. He likes their soft textures though.

User Image When we went on our shopping trip, I was finally able to get Waya something a little more custom. A wolf plush! I think he like it lots. He likes to tote it around with him now and probably sees it as a miniature likeness of himself. Or something. X3;

User Image Waya got a gift from Aureli and Keita this Christmas! Inside of the blue-green box we received was this lovely pair of Koi. I suspect it was Orasteele and Britain behind the present since the tots themselves have seemed a bit afraid of my little wolf. X3

User Image Saturn and Karan sent us a cute little Christmas box! Waya and I wonder what is inside...

User Image User Image More mystery gifts... Waya tells me that the peaches look so good that he's had trouble not sinking his teeth into their "juicey bodies." Such a wolf. X3

User Image Raven left this strange crystal for Waya at the HQ. Neither of is sure what it does, but it's curious nonetheless. It sits on the family mantle in the mean time.

User Image An adorable gift from Prana! With so many pets and dolls accumulating, We set out to the store once again and got a little tank for the frog as well, set next to the Koi. Waya feeds them all religiously.

User Image These bracelets are a cherished gift from Cubi! Waya wears each on his left arm and likes that they compliment his pendant so well. I think he's turning into some kind of druid. X3

08 December 2004: It's a nice day outside. Waya and Orphne discuss the problem with industrialism and the lack of escape.

03 December 2004: Dropped off gifts to the other Legends in lieu of the holidays. Giving can be fun.

02 December 2004: First day back at the HQ.

30 November 2004: A little holiday shopping.

25 November 2004: Thanksgiving Dinner! A nice feast and time left over to stargaze.

22 November 2004: Orphne finds Waya on her doorstep! She takes him in as her own and sets him up with toys and a room.

She let's him help her cook and is very patient with him so in return, Waya simply relishes her attention. Of course... Dare seems to be getting in the way...

He feels closest to her because they share an understanding of the call of the wild. Prana puts him at ease and can make his soft, sociable side come out.

Waya is a little wary of the fawn and shares a bit of a power struggle with him, but Waya finds it more amusing than anything. At least until Keita bit him, that is. X3 They got along well together. (Ear scritches!)

Waya doesn't know it yet, but this little munchkin has it in for him. She has the odor of intense wrath, but she's such a small thing and so very fragile that he sees the need to stifle his intuitions and help the little thing. It's so cute, it couldn't possibly be evil... could it?

Orphne
I rose before dawn and peered out of the tall french doors as per the usual. Nothing seemed different. The sky was dim and clean of condensation, the terrace glittered with the morning frost, and the telephone line sagged under the weight of a million, nightly crows. They stared into my bed hauntingly, and I returned their fixation with an icey gaze before unfurling the duvet off my body. My toes shimmied along the hard wood floor and crept into the solace of a pair of downy, blue slippers. I didn't think much of it as I approached the doors, but I caught a sudden gust of chilly wind as it swept by the entry and slithered between the cracks. A shiver clutched my spine and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. So I drew the curtains closed and snatched a robe from the side of my bureau where I'd tossed it the previous night. The fabric snagged a bit on my pajamas, but it felt nice and cosy as I fastened the cord belt.

Then I made my way into the kitchen. Did I ever mention the amazing amount of junk a person can stuff in a single cupboard? It adds up to an intimidating sum when you don't pay attention to the order of things. I ended up sifting through the contents of about 2 drawers and 3 wall cupboards before I finally found the treasure I'd been searching for. Caramel cocoa; a heavenly gift from god if there ever was one. I could almost taste it, just pinching the packet between my stiff fingers. The smooth chocolate slipping down my throat, with that sweet coffee-like aroma, minus the unecessary caffein. (I think I'm addicted.)

Pulling out a a small sauce pan from the baker's rack, I fished for the milk carton in the fridge and dumped the remaining cup or two unceremoniously into the center of the stoveware. I lit the gas top and set the milk to boil before finding a moment to sit down and properly wake myself up. My eyes felt heavy and my body seemed to tremble in wait for the long To Do List that was sure to appear. The world of Gaia never slept, and it would hold for no one. I could feel my mind's eye droop into a stupor, my vision stuck upon the second hand of the clock, watching it slide around the circumference in a molasses dance. I stared at the pot longingly. Time couldn't move any slower.

But then I heard the howling.

It was so out of place that I was pulled away for a moment, entranced by the majesty of the irregular, lupine chorus. It was deep and sudden, and it penetrated my brittle house walls, flooding the room with an ethereal lullabye. I checked the clock with an abstract glance a sucked in a small breath of air. The crickets stilled their violin legs in homage to the mournful concord. I stood and flipped the stove off, setting the milk pot out on the trivet, and held my shoulders in a loose embrace to listen as the sounds melted away in the thin air.

Till there was nothing but the insects to remain. They struck up their fiddling again and I sighed, wondering about the unusual disturbance. Wolves didn't tend to roam in my part of the woodland, but perhaps they were moving in advance of the coming winter. Though I didn't have to wonder for long. A light scratching at the front door and a loud whimpering noise at the front door alerted me to preservation instincts. I remember rushing to the window and spying a long brushy tail and a pair of small booted feet. The figure squirmed on the porch, causing a ruckus and scraping my welcome mat up against the siding in a harsh "Scrrrtch!" I hoped the paint hadn't chipped.

I felt my body rive itself away from the window panes and stagger forward, then bound through the kitchen, around and down the hallway to the entry. I smacked the back of the wood portal with my palm as I leaned against it and twisted the door knob open. As my home opened up to the hour before dawn, a small, furry child poked his head inside and startled me. I gripped the edge of the coat rack behind me and hesitated before inquiring, "Who are you?"

The boy looked up at me with shy and cautious eyes, but he scooted forward all the way into the house and pulled a nicely sized ruck sack into his lap. He rocked forward and curled up around the bag as his small hands reached inside and probed for something. He pulled out a crumpled envelope and laid it on the floor at my feet. So I picked it up. And he recoiled, turning up the edges the sack to his face as if to hide himself away. It made me smile, how innocent he was.

Pulling out the paper note within the seal, I scanned the writing and recognized it as that of my friend, Cubi. To make a long letter short, she wrote to say that she no longer had the ability to care for Waya (who I assumed to be the boy) as she thought he deserved. She hoped I would make up for that.

I folded the letter back up and stuck it in a side pocket. I hadn't seen Cubi in a while, and the prospect of having a child was... Sudden, to say the least. I was hoping to squeeze in another 5 years before taking on a family. But there he was. Rags for clothes and all. His bangs fell around his face in unruly whisps, and the ends of his hair twisted off into thick dreds. He wore a pair of wool lined boot and gloves with leather exteriors and broad, sienna seams. The pants he had on were shredded past the knee with tapering remnants of the garment dangling about his slender legs. Speaking of which, the boy looked willowy. He didn't have much meat on him and I could only assume it was the reason for his heavy, fur cloak and hood. With such a slight figure, little was left as to imagine as to the necessity of such a bulky overcoat.

Watching the poor thing quivering on the ground brought me back to the door in my grasp. It closed with a satisfactory "Thup," and all at once the warm air of the house caved in on my being, my cheeks pink from the nipping of the weather. The child bundled up on the floor whimpered and stuck his nose out from under his fur hood only to take a brief sniff of the air and suck his limbs further inward. Something grey slashed the space behind him and folded under his boney legs. It was curious, the way the boy moved without budging an inch. I couldn't place it right away at the time, so I circled to the side and looked him over.

Waya had a tail and a pair of ears sprouting from the spaces behind his temples. Odd... But not unusual.

Pressing a finger to my lips, I studied him a moment longer, then rushed back to the kitchen. Snatching the pot, I grabbed a couple of mugs and spilled the milk in each. The top off of the cocoa packet pealed off with an easy shredding motion. Powder clumped at the surface of the milk and the mixing spoon just as easily broke it up. The aroma was just divine.

Waltzing back out to greet the dear, I found him pressed the door with tears streaking his face. Waya never smiled, and when I nudged him to offer some cocoa, he stared into it with the most forlorn eyes. He was thinking something deep and personal, but I had no parents to speak of, so I could not compare to his loss of an attached person. But it had to hurt so badly for one so young. At that thought, I unconsciously glanced over my shoulder toward the place where I kept a picture of Airez framed beside the lamp. My knuckles brushed my cheek and I could only smile in a melancholy way.

And that's it. I ended up sitting with the boy beside the door for hours, sipping my cocoa and thinking of where my lover might be, what he might be doing, if he was alright. And the little wolf tucked his tail between his legs. I listened as his tears swept into tiny sobs and as those sobs swirled into soft little howls of pain. I wanted to hug the dear so badly, but I was afraid he'd push me away. And as the day crept by and the fog of the outdoors bore down on the house, I left him to paint, but got nothing accomplished. When rejoining the boy at my entry. The wolf shivered squeezed his cheeks against the tile, suddenly knocking his head against it as I neared.

I hate it when little ones cry, these upset feelings swell in me. I enveloped him in my arms and dragged him to bed upon the eve, his lanky appendages thrashing and beating my body with his mug of cocoa abondoned on the floor and cold from neglect. I wished Cubi were here to comfort her boy, he misses her terribly and there is no doubt in my mind how torn she too must be. Then here I am, stuck in this difficult position.

He fought when I slipped him under the covers, preferring to lay on the floor near the window paned door. A wail pierced the air for... But everything was silent for the remainder of the night. It was eerie the way his yellow eyes didn't blink even once and reflected on the glass. With that impression in my mind, I laid myself out upon the white, cotton lace of the bed, my clothes still on but my figure heavy with the weight of this new burden.

I shouldn't call him that. He's my little boy now. And it's going to be that way for a long, long time.

I'm going to love you Waya. I hope you'll love me too.
